Exchangeable Image file Format (EXIF)

Exchangeable image file format (EXIF):  This is a type of data or electronically stored information that is generally embedded into different types of digital images, audio and video media files. It is based upon a standard that specifies the format and tags which are embedded into the photo or media file. EXIF information is usually embedded by mobile devices, digital cameras as well as scanners and other imaging devices.  While EXIF is a standard format in terms of what can potentially be included in the metadata, there is not specification or requirement to include any or all of the information that is available to be written to the image.
