The Chicago Regional Computer Forensics Lab - Chicago, IL.

The FBI's Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory in Chicago is Located on the FBI campus near down town.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) supports local law enforcement agencies by providing a shared facility in which digital forensics investigations can be conducted.

The Regional Computer Forensics Labs, like the facility in Chicago Illinois, provide a complete forensics laboratory  as well as a training center. The computer forensics lab is devoted entirely to the examination of digital evidence in support of criminal investigations. Types of investigations include:

The FBI's Regional Computer Forensics Labs consist of law enforcement officers from Federal, State and Local agencies. Most of the regional facilities employ approximately 15 people. Of the 15 at each lab, 12 are investigators and 3 are support staff. Duties of the investigators include:

  • Conducting an impartial examination of submitted digital evidence
  • Seizing and collecting electronic evidence at a crime scene
  • Testifying in court as required.
